Being an Explorer is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are. Alongside your new friends, we master the skills that will make you feel more confiendent and happier in young adulthood. We try things we'd never get the chance to do at home or at school, preparing us for our adult years.
The weather was quite challenging, but we're talking Explorers here .... "Who Dares Wins". Two teams were entered into the competition, one coming second place and the other team coming third, both winners in our eyes! An overall score of 48/60 is a fabulous achievement for second placement. Our Explorers spend two nights and a day, an extra overnight as this forms part of badge work.
In conjunction with Vulture Scouts, both Explorers and Scouts held a family firework in the grounds of Elphwood. Food and hot drinks were available. Each young person who attended had a adult guardian with them, as the lead volunteers were busy seeing to other tasks. This led to a safe and successful event.
Our unit decided to check out the local Indian restaurant "Naira" to try the cuisine and learn more about the Indian culture. They got the chance to meet the chef that prepared their meals, and explain what spices were included into each dish.
