Being a Scout is about taking responsibility. Our Scouts are expected to be a responsible young person, at home, school and in the Scout Troop. applying the skills they learn into everything we do. Scouting is about learning and having fun along the way. Our games are fun team building exercises, eventually showing individual leadership skills in our young people.
Our scouts built small open fires in our forest area. Prepared fresh Chicken onto skewers and cooked them in the hot embers. The cooking took longer than expected and although the session ran overtime, our youngsters were fed, and they thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
We took our youngsters to Harlow Outdoors for a session climbing their purpose built walls. Each wall ranges from easy to a difficult challenge.
Our very young teams did their very best, gaining the experience to do much better next year, and hopefully bringing home the "boots" once more.
For the forthcoming "Brass Monkey Competition", our scouts using their knots and lashing skills, known as Pioneering, made a few Gadgets for their campsite. These Gadgets are used to gain extra points in the competition.
For the forthcoming "Brass Monkey Competition", our teams cooked their chosen evening meal using gas stoves. This was in preparation to cooking it on a open fire, which the competition rules requires.
